Parish Church of St Mary

St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church is the parish church of East Cottingwith and Storwood and is part of the horseshoe Derwent Ings benefice which also includes Elvington, Sutton-on-Derwent, Wheldrake, and Thorganby.

Introduction to our Priest

As you will know our benefice went through the whole of 2020 without a priest.

It is therefore even more pleasing to welcome Jackie Doyle-Brett as our new priest in charge.

Jackie was licenced on the 24th of February 2021.

Originally from the East Riding she is married to Dave and has two grown up daughters and a granddaughter Molly who is 2. Before ordination in 2013 Jackie was a secondary school teacher and Head of Humanities in an inner city school in Hull.  After ordination she became the curate at the Tadcaster - a four church rural benefice. Jackie then became the Vicar of St Luke’s York in 2016. She is now very much looking forward to meeting people in East Cottingwith as she begins her time here.
